I had this problem on 1 machine after installing Win2000 SP3. The solution that worked for me was to Reboot using a Win98SE Boot Disk. Then at the A:> prompt, Type Fdisk /mbr
I was then able to Boot into Win2000 and fix the pagefile settings....

Most companies recommend that you set the CD/RW as Master on Secondary IDE and the second CD as Slave on the same IDE cable. Watch when you first boot to see if they were both detected. If not, then look in CMOS to see if one of the IDE ports is disabled. Ste them all to AUTO if possible and try...
I'd plug another floppy cable in and see if the problem is still there. If it's gone, then you did damage the cable. If its still there then at least you know its not the cable and can look elsewhere.
