Which site are you attempting download from - FTP or HTTP.
I have had similar experiences with AutoUpdate Architect and usually find I am also unable to browse to the site.
I was having difficulty with the FTP site yesterday, switched to HTTP site and was successful in the manual pull.
With Outlook closed, search for the file "extend.dat" on your PC and delete.
