Firstly, let me say that I am not an IPtables expert - still struggling with IPchains.:-) However, it looks to me like you have a default policy of DROP on the input table, and no rules to allow any traffic (except ICMP - ping). Adding a Harddrive after a RH7.1 reinstall.
IIRC, extended partitions start at 5 - ie hda5, as 1 to 4 are the primary partitions. I hope this helps.- skk
