VIRUS DESTROYED MY HD! THE HD DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!
Just an idea guys, In my times of tinkering with Frankenputers :-) I have noticed that sometimes when the BIOS settings for HD (heads, sectors) are incorrect, I have had scandisk to start marking all sectors as bad. I know that does nothing to explain the clicking but if a virus could change HD...- kd4yuw

We (wife and I) have tried both leaving the PCs on all the time and shutting them off. At my last count I think I have 7 PCs here in various uses but only one is now left on 24/7. CPU Apparently not working
Just read the thread and I have a question. Did you "burn in" the new processor? That is leave the pc running constantly for a couple of weeks. I had always heard that PCs would last forever if they made it past the first two weeks of constant operation but I never knew how much...- kd4yuw

X Window screen resolution prob.
try pressing control and the plus sign on your number pad together. I think this scrolls through the screen resolutions that are availble. I had the same problem with an install of phat linux and it fixed it. Hope this helps.- kd4yuw
