I have been given a database which has a PDF file stored in an IMAGE column. How do you extract this into a usable .PDF file using SELECT ????????

I guess the VB solution is our only way round, or we print all the reports and post them to the users!!!

ie. create a new database on the SQL, just populated with views, pointing to the other database tables...

can you create a foreign key to an existing table that works the same way has having 'Left Outer Join' in a Select statement. So that all rows in table 1 are displayed, even if they don't have a valid key to table2??????????????

Work it out for my self...
Feeling a lot more refreshed today and decided to get to the bottom of it.
The way round this is to create a text file, but call it a .xls and when it is emailed to the user they just open it using excel..
it works .....

But in a procedure how would you detect a numeric value in a char(10) ie.
declare @sp char(10)
set @sp ='4' -- its numeric
set @sp = 'hello' -- it aint numeric
