Does anyone know if there is a gigabit ethernet adapter available for new Macs (G4 or G5's)? I am having a hard time believing there isn't one, but I can't find one.

MAC OS X Won't Logoff; Restart; or Shutdown

I did one more test after posting this - I unplugged the ethernet connection and booted the MAC without being connected to the network it booted fine and it also shut down properly. So, it looks as though it has something to do with the mounted drives? Any recommendations would be greatly...

MAC OS X Won't Logoff; Restart; or Shutdown

I have a customer who is running a MAC with OS X on it. We mounted several network drives from a Windows 2000 server and added them to favorites. When we went to restart, the MAC does not seem to do anything, it's as though you hadn't clicked on it. The system seems to be running fine. It...

    Outlook 2003 Spam Feature

Has anyone else noticed that the junk email feature in Outlook 2003 is not blocking a large amount of spam anymore. When I first installed it about 2 months ago, it was blocking the majority of the spam coming through. Now it seems to be letting quite a bit through. I have the spam setting to high.

Print services for Macintosh/Appletalk printer problem

I tested a Mac printing problem on a Windows 2003 server with a locally attached printer HP5si and it worked fine. All I did was installed the print server for Macintosh services on the server. The printer was installed using the standard lpt1 port. You shouldn't have to create a special...

NT4 PDC locks the Domain Several Times a Day.

To Winntguy - Check Microsoft on this - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;294346 See if that helps. I think you have a different problem than what I am seeing. My problem is definitely associated with traffic to the PDC. This particular customer was using roaming profiles...

NT4 PDC locks the Domain Several Times a Day.

Turned licensing off. Don't beleive I am seeing anything of significance in the event logs. It was not installed from MSDN. The PDC can be pinged and if you ping the PDC name it is resolved and does ping. Cleaned up the network a fair amount. Installed two 48 port switches. Not one logging...

NT4 PDC locks the Domain Several Times a Day.

I have a customer running Win NT4.0 SP6a + latest updates (Knowledge base article q299444). 2 to 3 times a day the workstations lose connection to the shared drives on the PDC. If you go to Network Places, you cannot open the Domain to see all the computers on the network. The PDC is running...

    Recover bad media

luckily, all I was trying to restore was a small file for a user. I spent way too much time working on this. I couldn't get the mtfcheck utility to point to the file to run a check and repair on it. If you go to Technet and read about mtfcheck, that is exactly what I wanted to accomplish. I was...

    Recover bad media

This was a backup I ran to disk on Dec 8. When I go to restore a file from the backup file, it gives me an error of bad media. I have a feeling the header got corrupted or an eod was written at the beginning of the file. It shows a 56 gig file though, so I am assuming the actual data is still...

    Recover bad media

Running backup exec 8.6 to disk. I needed to restore a file somebody accidently deleted. I get a bad media error. I show over 50 gig in the bkd000002.bkf file. Is there a way to repair the file? I have been trying to run the mtfcheck from win2000 resource cd. I can't get it to see the file...

Upgrading from Win NT4.0 to Win2000 Server on New Hardware

Planning an upgrade from NT4.0 to Windows 2000 Server with a new machine.I am thinking I will need to have both of these servers on the network prior to switching over permenantly to the new Win2k machine. That being the case, I will need a different computer name for the Win2k box. Does this...
