Hi 777Ziggorat, It is definatly not overheating. I have physically felt the heatsink on the cpu and it is cold. I have also tried different sticks of ram and in different slots. I have also just replaced the graphics card with an older PCI card and still the same problems. Any suggestions?

the Psu is a new 350w(replace twice). I have tried all the various components on a working pc and they operate normally. The mobo has been replaced as well. The only thing I have not replaced is the graphics card and the HDD.

I think what hw45 is referring to is called "Disk drive overlay" software or DDo software. Also check your jumpers on the back of the drive. Some drives have a jumper for "master with slave present" if this is enabled and there is no slave there it may have problems picking...

When you installed the new Hdd, was it to replace the old drive? If so, Have you reinstalled the OS onto the new drive along with the USB drivers from the MoBo install disk? If the Onboard drivers have not been installed it may cause the Usb not to function.
