We have a BCM 400. We've just attempted to set up a hunt group with around 400 DNs, but when the hunt group rings it causes the system to hang. When a user picks up a ringing handset it takes around 3 seconds for the switch to register it and connect the call.

ha100, I don't see why that should affect things, and it certainly wasn't the problem in my case. I managed to solve it by adding the FQDN to the hosts file on my server and rebooting - problem solved!
