I have a Dymo EL60 Labelwriter on my system but since reinstalling XP, on every boot it detects the Dymo EL60 as "new hardware" even though the latest XP drivers, from the Dymo site, are loaded and the software works perfectly.
My question is , can I suppress the new hardware detection...
I have been asked to investigate providing an Access frontend to an Oracle database and I'm wondering if anyone can advise me how to do it or tell me the pitfalls. This project is in its very early stages and i don't have alot of information as yet.
If anyone can offer any assistance I would...
I'm still having problems :(
When ever I run an action query, a nag screen pops up for confirmation (Yes, No, Cancel). As I always want the action query to run, I have set the Options, Edit, Confirmation checkboxes to un-checked.
However, these options are not being set when I run the...
James,
The Form I'm using does have buttons but not Edit or Add button.
Does it have to be a form without buttons?
I'm invoking my code "On Open" in the form properties.
I will try it again tomorrow and let you know exactly what the message says ... It's something like "...
Thanks for the tip about not using "=". That allowed the code to run.
But it doesn't seem to stop the record edit conformation nag screens unfortunately.
Not sure where I go from here?
Hi James,
Well as I mentioned, I'm not a programmer but this is what I have tried and the response I got.
I created a "splash" form as suggested and created the DoCmd.SetWarnings = False in an event "On Open". When I open the form I get a Compile Error "Arguement not...
Thanks for the quick reply James.
I will try this out and see if it does suppress the confirmation messages. I can see that I might have problems if it also suppresses error msgs too though.
The particular confirmations I want to automatically accecpt are:-
"Record Changes"...

Yes it does allow me to select from a list of 30 possible users, but I want it to detect the "logged on" user and for the value of Forms!StartForm!GuardianID combobox to be strUserID.
In most cases this is how the users will be using the software, to look up items belonging to...
Hi Kathryn,
That works and I can now see my userID in the MsgBox on the second form.
However, what I really want is to have the userID, obtained from the API call, as the default value for my Combobox on the Start form but also allowing me to select any other userID from the droplist if I...
Hi Kathyrn,
I'm still struggling with this. I am also very aware that I'm taking up your time and that my main problem is lack of VBA knowledge.
I now think I am not understanding how to "call" the function properly. I will reproduce here exactly what my UserID module says:-...
Hi Kathryn,
I am something of a novice with VBA .. a complete novice actually :)
I'm not sure how to declare the UserID as a global variable? I assume it is done in the the module?
I can see how this may well be the answer to my problem.

Hi Kathryn,
Thank you for responding.
I mean that function works, telling me the "UserID" from Windows (it does not get the full name) but the "Fullname" and "UserID" are related in "User" table. I use this table to provide me with the droplist...
Hi,
I have a networked database used by 30-40 people and I want to make it detect who is using the database when they log-in. I have the following code that returns the userID in a message box:-
Declare Function GetUserName Lib "advapi32.dll" Alias "GetUserNameA" (ByVal...
Well it appears that I had somehow removed myself as administrator from all the databases I wrote and administer. I bit of a problem eh ? :-)
The good news is that, as if by magic, I seemed to have become administrator again ... not sure what had happened but every thing seems OK again...
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if Access 2000 can produce Runtime executables ?
I have done this with Access95 + Advanced Development Toolkit but I believe Access 97 and 2000 have the necessary tools built in.
If anyone can point me in the right direction to find how to do it in 2000 I would be...
