you could try the lockwindowupdate system API function. Also certain object (like Ttreeview) allow you to specify the start and end of a batch update.

In CR8.5 crpe there was a parameter property 'browsefield' which specified the location of the lookup data which then allowed you to dynamically create your pick list. This appears to be deleted in the RDC version available in CR9. How can I get the same information? Thanks Vince

There is a prompt option in the RDC per parameter - have you tried setting this to false? I don't know vb so I can't give you the code to this.
