when I execute the topas command, hdisk2 which is a RAID parity of 4 disks are 100% busy. the lotus notes database is in this hdisk2, what i want to know is if i can determine what makes these disks busy, what files are open... lsof only?

Our F50 with Domino 6.5 recently did not permit any connections namely FTP and Telnet, though PING requests are successful. The tty console did not work either so we had to reboot it manually. What could be wrong, did the inetd daemon went down? Is the tty process related to inetd?

Our AIX machine in version 5.2 has two ethernet adapters. Is it possible to configure them with different IP addresses but with the same network? I tried doing it but if I do a ping, I only get 50% success rate.

hi, I have a p630 and F50 both having 100mbps ethernet adapters. I tried to transfer files from the p630 to the F50 via FTP using a crosscable. My problem is why does it say that the transfer rate for each file averages only from 7mbps to about 10mbps only? I was expecting close to 100mbps since...
I know rdump should be used on devices such as tapes. Can I use rdump to backup files to a remote system's filesystem? And if I have a huge file, can I use JFS2 for this purpose?
I'm having a hard time synchronizing the time of my AIX to a win2k professional. I'm using the command ntpdate but it will have a response of 'no suitable server for synchronization'. What could be the problem?
how does the mirroring of AIX work after one of the HD fails? does it automatically revert to the other disk or you have to reboot and adjust the bootlist after a crash?

how can I see the current date once I telnet or do an ftp session? because when i do an ftp, i believe what i see is the date when the ftp program was compiled

when i enabled the ftp service on my AIX5L and tried to ftp from a windows 2000 command line, the date that shows in the ftp is not the current date, it shows something like this:
