HP Printer Drops Out Of DNS

Sorry for the lack of update on this. Without having access to the DNS and DHCP servers this is very difficult for me. However, I am convinced that the problem lies between the DHCP and DNS server as the printer cannot update DNS directly. Only when it is turned on or off does it have an affect...

HP Printer Drops Out Of DNS

Hello Noway2, Just had the server guys get me the information. I'm not sure that they have "sane" times for an 8 day lease but I might be wrong. Refresh Interval = 15 minutes Retry Interval = 10 minutes Expires after = 1 day Minimum(default) TTL 1 hour It all looks a bit short to me but I'm a...

HP Printer Drops Out Of DNS

Hello all, I have a strange issue that is causing me some grief. First off before I go any further my background is in networking and not servers. In fact I don't have access to the DNS servers or DHCP servers I'm about to ask about but my server team are pointing their fingers at the network...

Sluggish PC's when connected to network.

Good point TheLad, didn't really say to check that option in McAfee just turn it off for a quick test. If you're not sure where the option is just shout and we'll talk you through it.

Sluggish PC's when connected to network.

My guess would be McAfee VirusScan On-Access. It really does what it says on the box and scans every file you open for a virus. A quick way to test it would be to get 2 machines next to each other and open the same file, one with On-Access running and one without it. I'm pretty sure you'll...

Can you change the destination of Syncronized files?

Hello people, I have a user with a laptop that has 2 partitions, C and D. I have set his My Documents up to point at personal share on a server which is working fine. However there is lots of data on this share and he would like to sync it all but because of the size of it I would like to sync...

    Robotic library hardware error

I think the tape drive itself is ok, as this never goes off line whent he robotic library reports the problem. The Ultrium 2 drives are pretty good, a lot better than DLT.

    Robotic library hardware error

Forgot to add in last post, I now know when the device will become off line!! This happens when it needs to eject the tape. We have a number of backup jobs running on the server, and if they are below 400gig, the capacity of the tape, the jobs will run and fail when the tape has to come out. If...

    Robotic library hardware error

Sorry for the slow reply. It's the ssl1016, it's from HP and is a 16 tape with a Ultrium LTO 2 drive. We have a HP engineer coming out today. The problem is that the unit never seems to report a problem when you run it's own diags! We'll have to wait and see what Mr HP has to say. But I'm...

Red Cross for Pictures in Word

Just found out that they are not linked files. Have opened the documents on my computer and pictures all there, can edit them and they are embedded in the document itself. So back to square one, looks like it's a problem with office/word itself.

Red Cross for Pictures in Word

Hi Fumei Thanks for the reply and code. Not a great VB user though, not sure what I need to do with this. I've opened up the VB editor in word but stumble on where I need to put it there to work. Cheers Iain

Red Cross for Pictures in Word

I have a user on office 97. When he opens Word with documents with pictures they have a red cross in the box. This same document works fine on a different machine in the same office. I think it might be a problem with the path not being avaliable to the machine where the document is. Is there...

When is full control not full control?

My head hurts!! I selected full control for the everyone group at the share level on the user folder and now user can make the changes. So yes both Palagast and Lander are right. I really should have paid more attention in class with permissions, it's just that they get so bloody confusing...

When is full control not full control?

Hi lander215, is there any chance you could break down what you just said? The share "Users" has the share permissions of everyone change and read + domain admins full control. The permissions of the folder is set to everyone modify. The folder "eastern region" is set to domain admins full...

When is full control not full control?

Thanks Palagast, The user is connecting to folder via share. The share is \\data\users the permissions set on the share for that is everyone change and read. The folder is located under that share so no share permissions to look at. No denys set up anywhere that I can see so allows should be...
