I'm running Suse Professional 8.2 and I just bought a western digital external portable USB/Firewire combo drive and I'm having trouble getting the device to be recognized in Suse. On the box itself the drive doesn't state either way whether it's compatible or not. Any help very much appreciated!
Oh yeah I've reformatted the drive already and ran through the chkdsk feature. I just wasn't sure if ghosting it would bring along bad information to my new disk.
Is this a good idea to ghost a harddisk which already has some bad sectors? Will this effect the quality of my image when it's loaded onto a new hard disk. Thanks in advance.
When I attempt to create a new form in outlook it prompts me that my logon credentials that have been supplied are incorrect and it then asks me to input my username domain and password. It put all that information in and it continues over and over with the same bit. The exchange server is on a...
yeah I wish we had a decent file server but this 98 machine is the file server for now. Okay I've checked WS_FTP I think I'll use WarFTP for now ONLY because they have limited budgets for this. Thanks fellas for the tips.
Where using file sharing already, it works fine but we have a huge amount of files transfering from one site to another, using some sort of FTP Server/Client solution will allow us to cue files up for downloading, resume downloads that fail because of traffic or other neat stuff like that. I...
This is good stuff I would like to thank everybody for the excellent feedback on this project I'm working on!!! I think I'll go the Linux way, it's seems to be the future its state of the art and unless you have a bunch of money to spend it seems like the wisest choice. I don't to just throw a...
I posted a question like this before, but I didn't get a good response, I need to transfer files between a Windows 98 machine on a network and other computers. I need a freeware or shareware solution which is easy to configure that will allow someone on the network to pull files from the 98...
I'm a amateur at Linux I'm running Suse Linux currently, well tell me what are some good resources for learning and being able to configure a Linux Firewall using Iptables. Also can you provide just another alternative for a firewall hardward device, only because it may take me a couple weeks to...
Their using DSL at the site, I have it shared out via a netgear hub. I do have FreeBSD but their support isn't up to par, and I had trouble installing it. That was one of my concerns too, this site is far away from me and I don't want to keep running back and forth to do little stuff, thats why...
So let me make sure I'm clear, I either ipcop or smoothwall has software available that will work on the linux os. I have Suse Linux 8.2 pro installed on a spare machine already, so is it just installing one of these products next?
I have 10 users in a small workgroup environment, all running Xp or 2k, I need a good inexpensive firewall solution to protect the network. I don't want to use XP's built in firewall, I've used blackice and zone alarm before but it starts to get annoying and interferes with applications on the...
I just started picking up a wireless signal on my laptop at work, I assume in one of the other suites on my floor someone must have just put a wireless device up. I have WEP enabled but is there anything else I can do to protect myself or to find out who's signal I'm picking up? Thanks.
Thanks for the response, we have an NT 4.0 Domain. The Exchange server is on a different domain which "trusts" our domain. If it usually uses the logon network password of the user can I just change that on my server in our domain or do I need the admin from the other domain to change...
I know this is probably very simple but, I'm new to Exchange systems. Can you tell me specifically I need to do to allow a outlook client user to change their own password to something unique. Do I do it on the client end or on the server side? Thanks.
I would like to futher secure one of my clients who has a law office with 5 computers total. What is a good firewall product that can be remotely administered and can be updated or configured to protect against new threats as they become known. something in the $300 dollar range not too...
What do I need to do to allow a outlook client to change their own password. Is this an option on the exchange server side or do I need to setup on client side? Thanks.
