Excel - date is a number

hmmm....another fact I'll throw out there....when I double click in the individual cell, it changes to the proper date, for example: First Date cell shows as: 39689 and when I double click in that cell it changes to 08/29/2008. Then when focus is taken off that cell, it changes back to 39689...

Excel - date is a number

Hi Skip, I tried your instructions, but it didn't do anything. There is another column with time that displays as ie 0.06875 so I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with numbers. Thanks for the suggestion though. Stephanie

Excel - date is a number

Formatting doesn't work. I ended up copying and pasting the cells into a new sheet and every appeared correctly. The original must have had some sort of formatting on it that wouldn't be modified (or detected!).... although I'm still curious why I couldn't manage to change it! Will keep...

Excel - date is a number

I have looked in the FAQs and search this, but I cannot seem to find the answer on how to change it! I have a column of dates and times - in the fx window, I see them as their dates and times in the proper format, but in the column they show as whatever number since Jan 1, 1990. I've tried...

    string manipulation tutorial

by 'stream' I mean an xml feed from an external website. Comes in as just a clump of text. The key word is consistent, so I can capture that, but having the unique information before AND after the key word throws me. Regular expressions just confuse me and taunt me with their various...

    string manipulation tutorial

I have searched the web, and this site but have had no luck in finding a tutorial or set of examples for what I'm needing to do. I have input that comes in as just a stream of data and it has numerous snippets of information I need to capture. I need to go through the text and find key words...

    clarification on paypal's IPN

ok, I have tried to work this out on my own and I just have too many questions. Firstly, my checkForm.cfm file is the action from the original form. I check for valid entries and then have the <form> for paypal. ************************************* <form...

    clarification on paypal's IPN

ok, I think I'm getting close. I have everything working as planned up to when PayPal returns to my page where I get this..... Element FILECONTENT is undefined in CFHTTP When it returns to my page, I have all the email and name information because they are session variables....but I just need...

    clarification on paypal's IPN

ok, I am totally lost. The way I originally understood it was this: I have a form, if filled in completely/correctly, I direct user to PayPal, using our account information in hidden variables. Up to this point, all works well. I currently have the donation amount for 1 cent, as not to drain...

    clarification on paypal's IPN

thanks....I'll give it a try....I just registered at the PayPal forum....didn't even know it existed! So for IPN do I not use <form> to communicate with PayPal like I usually do for donations? (Boxer Rescue Ontario) Here is my page....those are my two boxers gracing the page...

    clarification on paypal's IPN

I'm not too sure if IPN is what I need.....I've looked at the tutorial on both paypal and the one linked in another post. I am doing a Valentine (yes, I'm running late!) donation page where for a $6 donation the user can send their love a virtual chocolate, flower or heart. So the first page...

    CGI. HTTP_REFERER

For the first time, I am doing a CF application for the internet....previously I had the luxury of only working on intranets with a captured, accountable audience, so security wasn't a huge issue. I've written an application that is an adoption application split into 9 pages. The error...

    well formed form help

In the past, I have always had my error checking code used the <cfabort> and had the user use the browser back button to go back and correct their input. But, on a previous post someone mentioned that that was poor practice and that I should be reloading the form with error messages showing up...

    error with cffile read

I'm not understanding. I thought that when I installed Apache, I set the path to: c:/program files/apache group/apache2/htdoc so that the computer name, in this case 'crunch', was the equivalent of that path.....so by doing crunch/ascent/Magazine.tpm I was in effect telling it: c:/program...

    error with cffile read

it is running on XP, with Apache as the web server. The file name (being read as input) is in the same folder as the calling file and is Magazine.tpm. I have set the permissions to 'full control' on the folder, including full control for 'system'. I just don't think coldfusion is the user...
