The Motherboard i am using is a AMD board, called a M7NCG 400. It is brand new, and from what i know it should support up to 2gigs of ram.
There are 3 ram slots, so its hard to believe that 1 slot would only hold 384 mb? But maybe so...?
I just bought some ram from a local store, and they told me that it was 512 mb of DDR 2700 ram. The price matched that of Crucial's website, and everything looked fine.

all of those sound like good suggestions... and i would even believe them all. I had some of the same thoughts, so what i did was replace my geforce2 with an old ATI radeon 32mb card that i had... and to my surprise the error continues.
So perhaps it is the monitor to video card connection...
the only reason i would say it isn't heat related it because i haven't been doing anything extremely taxing to the card when the error comes up.
I hope its not slot related because i only have 1 AGP slot.
