Yes, you can. Depending on the WAN link though. It may be slow. IIS<->Exchange talks using RPC. Use RPC ping from the Exchange CD to confirm RPC connectivity over the WAN before you attempt anything crazy.
Honestly though- why do it that way -- make them all local and route the web stuff...

TAC said it is impossible to have the PIX route packets out the same interface they came in on. I have two options.
1) Get a small router inbetween the LAN and the PIX.
2) Get a third int for the pIX.
