What version of Netware are you running on.
I have installed SAVCE v10.0.1.1000 on Netware 6.0 Sp5 and Netware 6.5 Sp2 with no problems other than you need to remove the old copy of SAVCE, then reboot the server and then install the new version. Doing this caused no crashes.

Search for the msxmlx.inf file, uncheck "Read Only" attribute on all instances and reinstall. It will usually work if the installation says that it was interrupted and then rolls back.

Yes replacing the symevent did fix the SBS 2003 blue screens for us.
Here are the steps to upgrade per Symantec Tech Support. Some of the dll's won't be in the locations indicated (just ignore).
