I created an MSI file of the latest MS patch however when the MSI is installed (published or assigned) it doesn't actually patch the system. I ran the KB824146 scanner and it came up unpatched. I ran the scanner or a manually patched system and it correctly showed as patched. What could be...
I have published an installation package in GP and I would like to have a logon script open that package for installation when a user logs on. I know nothing about windows scripting, how can I do this?

My PC rarely runs higher than 10% CPU Usage in Task Manager. I check it often and 5% is average. My computer was running slower so I checked it and it is now averaging 30% with nothing running. What steps would you suggest taking to determine the cause of this problem?

Without click advanced what specific checkboxes will limit folder creation but not file creation/change/deletion?
Maybe something else is wrong because changing the Share Permissions to Read and Change but not Full doesn't stop folder creation/deletion either.
Unfortunately the box in the Advanced tab that allows restriction of creating folder is:
Create Folder / Append Data
So when I don't allow my users that option they also can't change files (Append Data) which causes wide-spread panic.
I posted this a couple days ago but was unable to get exactly what I needed. How can I restrict users from creating directories/folders on a server share but still allow them to change/create/delete files?

You are right. Too bad they put those 2 together. Earlier when I tested it I only save a new file so it worked fine.
Thanks a lot for your help though, I'm still trying.
Problem.
I tried brontosauruses method first and everything appeared to be fine. Then I found out when users would open a file and change it they couldn't save it. "This file is read-only" (not true) error came up or even more off the wall errors such as low disk space (247GB free &...
Is it possible to prevent users from creating directories in a share but still allow them to read/write to any file in any existing directories? If so what NTFS attributes should be checked?
I've determined the problem is with the Share permissions. The NTFS permissions are working fine but apparently the share permissions aren't propogating to lower directories.
Here's the situation.
The root share allows full access to everyone.
rootshare\child1 allows full access as well...
I needed to restrict access on a directory where Everyone would have only read access except for in one folder that is in that directory where Everyone can have full access. Only 2 people were given full access on the parent directory. I did this with NTFS but now one of those 1 people can't...
My friend has this problem. If they open up 2 or more MS Word XP documents and minimize them they disappear without any warning or leftover. Basically once the windows are minimized and she clicks one or the other or both they just vanish and WINWORD isn't even running in the Task Manager...
