PH,
Thanks for the great info. I finally got the HTA to gather data from Access. I ended up having to use an ADO connection to the ODBC because I couldn't find any code examples of VBS using DAO that would actually work. I believe I saw somewhere that I can set up the ODBC entry with VBS...
PH and jedraw,
Thanks for the info. I have gotten bogged down with other things at work at the moment, but I will try your suggestions as soon as possible.
Thanks for your reply, jedraw.
I have only tried what I know: PHP & VBScript. Both of these require a web server on the box to connect to the DB. I read up on JS, but it looks like it requires one as well. I will look at the TransferText Method and see if it will work for me.
Further info...
I have a need to move data to and from a local Access database via a web browser. Does anyone know of a way to do this without installing IIS/Apatche/etc on the local machine? This is a local DB with local HTML files; I'm not trying to serve it out to anyone.
Thanks!
Well, I went to the website vicvirk recomended and got a great code that I just cut and pasted into my page, tweaked it up for making 2 "static" items (one on each side), and it worked great. Or so I thought...
It works great in Chrome and Firefox, but not in IE. I should probably post this...
feherke,
HAHA!! Got me there. I was too busy multitasking to proof read my post.
vicvirk,
I did Google it, but I wasn't sure exactly what to call it. I tried several things, but didn't find the answer. Whenever my brain gets stuck in park, I come on here for you guys to give me a gear...
I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking to do is called, all I know is that I've seen it out there. I'm hoping one of you smart folks can at least point me in the direction I need to go.
I've got an order form page that creates itself by reading a flat file. There are a lot of items, so the...
OK, I think I've got it figured it out, at least somewhat.
While researching I found that GP can cause this problem. I had not made any GPs, so I didn't know exactly what was wrong. I changed the following in the Default Domain Policy:
Computer Configuration
->Administrative...
UPDATE:
I noticed that on the log-in screen under "Log on to:" it says "domainname" instead of "domainname.net". I created a user in ADUC and tried to log in with it, but no dice. I changed the name of the domain admin account and it registered with both machines (that is, I can log in with...
I've got a weird one. I've just created a new forest for my company. I have one DC and one file server on the root domain. I log into the DC with the domain admin account and open ADUC. I can add users, groups, etc. without any problem. However, I can't add an OU. The choice simply isn't...
I'd love to. I don't know of any that will force Server to see it. At least, none claim to be able to. (That I can tell, anyway.) If you know of one that will, I'd love to know the name of it. I work for a small company and we can't afford to spend $$ on a program that may, or may not...
Tried that. Server won't do anything with the partition. It sees it, even gives me a "Properties" of it. I just can't do anything with it. It's like MS is laughing at me and saying "If you would have given us a few hundred dollars more, you could have done that, but nooooooo.....
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. It appears that I've stuck myself in this situation and must live with it. I don't think we're going to get enough data to fill 2TB before we need a new server, so I'm going to run with what we have.
Thanks again!
I have purchased a couple of HP Proliant ML115 G5 servers for my company. In one of them I stuck 4-1TB drives and set them up for RAID5 giving me slightly under 3TB worth of drive. Then, after installing and updating the OS, found that Windows could see, but refused to do anything with (like...
Well, I've got the answer. My provider doesn't support SSL emails. I called them to verify the port and they told me that it wouldn't work even with the correct port. (Which they gave me and I tried. They were right, it didn't work.)
jpadi, thanks for a great tip. It really helped me...
Thanks jpadie, it's getting much further than any of my other code ever did! It's still not working, though.
I'm getting the following error:
"Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to smtp.domainname.net:465 (Connection timed out) in /filepath/htdocs/class.smtp.php on...
Does anyone know where I can find a good tutorial on how to sending SSL email using PHP? If you Google it, you get a lot of stuff on how to set up servers for it, and about 20 different ways of sending that are all very cryptic. (Although, they say things like "I won't explain the above code...
I'm getting a "Fatal error: Can't use function return value in write context in..." error and I'm not sure why. I'm certain I'm missing some little thing somewhere, but I can't see it. I'm hoping one of you people who always seem to be much brighter than myself can point out what I'm doing...
