Kevin, Billy and Vragabond-
Thanks- and no I do not take it personal. I appreciate all the help you have given. Yes- I am using MS Word 2002 to create my pages and then save them as web pages. I have noticed the excess html also- but being new, have not a clue what I can cut.
As to the back...
Vragabond,
desktop.webhop.org
Click on the family page. The green border is what I made in MS Paint and wanted to apply as the page background. I did it by making the picture attributes 1200X1600 pixels and then saved it. It worked rather well. Don't laugh too hard as I am just getting into...
Vragabond,
Thanks- sorry for not being clear. I did as you sugested and it worked the gif was centered directly in the middle (or center) of the page. So I guess I will have to create a rather large gif to envelope the whole web page. I had drawn a pic with paint that had colorful borders...
Vragabond,
Tried exactly as you suggested. It put the gif in the left upper corner. Currently, there is nothing assigned to the back ground and the lettering is black. I thank you for your help and will continue to work on it.
Andy
Vragabond-
Thanks for the reply. below is how it appears when I open the html page in notepad and Trellian.
<BODY lang=EN-US style="tab-interval: .5in"
background="Pics\Back ground.GIF">
I have tried plugging it in as you suggested and it hasn't seemed to work. As I am totally new to html-...
I am using Trellian as a web editor. I created an image in MS Paint and saved it as a gif. When I tried to set it as the back ground- it makes it tiled. Is the problem with the way I made /saved the image? Image size? Or is it a simple code problem?
Thanks-
Andy
Using html (which I am very very new at) how can I use a gif button file as a link to an article doc within my website? When I just do a link- it places a border around the gif which I do not want. Any help in coding this would be appreciated.
Andy
feherke-
Your solution above worked fantastic- Thank you.
Be a little patient with us newbies. I was not aware
that there was a specific HTML forum. I just joined this
site and am not familiar with it.
Thanks again and have a great day.

Ok- I really have no desire to hide the url. I would like to be able to make a link from say- a word in the header of a page, that links to another page. But I don't want that word be a visable link (i.e.- that is underlined and changes color). I could just say to someone- go to my home page...
smah-
yes, I know that I could tell them to add /whatever.html
to the web site address. But it would be much easier
to tell them to click on a specific word in a header or click on a small graphic than have them write down the extension. Additionaly- some people may not be savoy enough to know...
I was wondering if there is a way to make a link to another page hidden? For example- say I wanted to keep a page hidden from visitors unless I specifically wanted some one to see it. I could say to that person- go to my website and on the Audio page, click on the word "Greetings". This would...
I am very new to Apache and web servers in general. I am trying to produce a site that has multiple services. Is there a way to password protect access to certain pages?
Thanks in advance.
