(a) Start\Shut Down\Restart in MS-DOS mode
where the screen just comes back blank even though the computer stays on
OR

Regarding my last message, I have since found that the settings you need in the ODBC PRM file [ODBC10en.prm]to have the Outer Joins boxes undimmed and the Outer Joins working properly are :
EXT_JOIN=YES
OUTERJOINS_GENERATION=NO
RIGHT_OUTER=$(+)
LEFT_OUTER=$(+)

Koti,
Two other ways around the problem :
In Report Writer you can select the cell or column, select Format Cell, select Number and enter 0 in the Undefined box.
In Designer you can set up an object
and use the Nvl function i.e. Nvl(Field,0) to show zero instead of a null - This may only...
Thanks for the tip, however it did not give the desired result.
While e.g.
Sum(<Field>) will give the total for that crosstab column in the WHOLE report.
Sum(<Field>) in Block gives the total for EVERY field in the WHOLE report.

I am trying to get Page Subtotals working on a Crosstab.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I have an Oracle Stored procedure that I can run by selecting the Stored Procedure data provider option and filling in the paramaters.

In the meantime I have resolved this issue (with the help of Oracle Support) It meant replacing the ODBC Driver with the version from the Oracle Installation disk (rather than the standard Microsoft one)
Apparently you also need to have the Net8 version and Oracle ODBC Driver version with the...
I am using Business Objects with an Oracle (8.1.7) database, linked via the Oracle ODBC driver.
When I try to run freehand sql I get the following message :

I have since found that the version (5.0.1) of BO I am working with does handle CLOBS and tells you how to do it in the Readme file, under Connectivities.
However, this solution will only work where the data is in fixed positions within the CLOB. As the particular CLOB I am using is an XML...
Has anyone experience of using CLOBs with Business Objects ?
I would be particularly interested in knowing how to incorporate the data into BO Designer, rather than Reports.
Thanks,
SIGBO
I have found that a particular cause of reports running slowly is complex filter statments i.e. when you use the "Define" button in the Filter box. I'm not sure if this is relevant to your situation but thought it worth mentioning.
