To shorten your procedures, you don't need to remove the ypservers from the /etc/hosts file. just do the following
1. copying of the nsswitch.conf file
2. deleting of the /var/yp/binding directory
3. /usr/lib/netsvc/yp/ypstop
no need to reboot. that's it.
