Thanks flyboytim for confirming what I hoped wasn't the case. I downloaded Win7 and don't have an original Home Premium diskette (only my repair disk which doesn't seem to be enough; or a work copy of Win7 Ultimate). Am going to have to find someone else's original and hope it allows me to...
Upgraded old custom-built system to new Athlon X4 630 and Biostar Mobo AMD3, with new DDR2 1066 ram (4MB). Kept PATA WD 160 HD with existing Win7 32 bit boot. Old power supply is 20-pin, for new 24-pin connector, but GPU is on-board (not PCI) for now. Starts fine, POSTs OK, but Win7 starts and...
Thanks to all. It just happened again.
As Linney and guitarzan suggested, I could Ctrl-Alt-Del two times and sign in. But on my machine it is associated with Application Event 1517 and 1524. See:

This is a failure of the User Profile Hive to...
Yes, guitarzan, my cursor does not show up in my username box after my wife logs off. I haven't tried what you do. Smah, I don't know if I can. I'd like to find out what the problem is though.
With WXP Home, in Word 2007 and Adobe Reader 8, the scrolling down arrow on the bottom right frequently disappears. I have to exit the programs and re-enter before it comes back. No hardware changes since it started happening, but both Word and Adobe are new in the last 3 months. Any ideas why...
On my niece's XP Pro desktop that was overrun last night by spies, viruses, etc... I clean and re-clean with MS AntiSpyware, AVG, Spybot S&D, AdAware. Pretty soon everything seems to work right. But I want to update her XP Pro and IE. I use IE6 to go to Microsoft website and I'm told her...
On a Gateway with XP Home, my son who is User with admin privileges, can not bring up Task Mgr, he gets a msg that says the Administrator has blocked access to it. But I can access TM from my user profile where I have admin privileges too. Where/what is making the distinction? Any ideas?
In my Windows XP directory, I have many sub-directories of this general type, all seeming to have been carrying an update of XP:
c:/windows/$NtUninstallQ81xxxxx/*.*
Is there a way they will be deleted by themselves during some future update, or is there a switch I can pull to delete them...
Thanks for quick reply. Hmmmm, I tried and found that I don't have a gpedit.msc file on my computer anywhere (hidden, etc). I cant find the hkey_etc either where I was supposed to look. Can you help with either of these issues?
Thanks
Help. Somehow, somewhen, I must have had a choice to disable access to Task Manager. When I want to do a regedit, for example, I get the msg "Task Manager has been disabled by the Administrator". As that is me, I'd like to get access again. How? Please. Thanks.

Can anybody...
Hi
I had same issue. Browserwise is a web site and service that installed itself quickly as you probably weren't watching. To get rid of the dubious browsing help they offer, and the message, go to browserwise.com and look for the place where you can uninstall this "service".
