Interesting problem I'm having. I have Volume Shadow Copies setup on one of our Windows 2012 servers. I've set it up to limit volume copies to 300G of storage, of which, it's only currently using 136G. But here's the problem, the shadow copies available are only back a few days (a week or...
Re: separating the indexes and data.
I think that's more for performance reasons. I'm not too concerned about that part, so I'm planning on putting both on the same volume.
I'll test out the formatting (ca_devmgr) to see if it'll work.
Cyklops,
I agree with you 100%, but I can budget for 2x dedupe space, it's harder to budget for 1x dedupe space with a potential for infinite growth. :)
Ideally the plan would consist of 4 jobs:
1. 3 months backup on Dev1
2. 3 months backup on Dev2
3. Format Dev1
4. Format Dev2
Scheduled to...
Cyklops,
Thanks for the reply.
That makes sense, but what happens if I do a massive data cleanup / move? Won't the dedupe job becoming inefficient, and my "compression ratios" be higher than necessary.
My thought process is that if I had two sets of 3 months, then the new "first index" would...
We're planning our implementation of R15 and using Dedupe and local disk for on "onsite" backups (offsite will be to tape and sent out daily).
Ideally we'd have 2 disk devices, say DEDUPE01 and DEDUPE02 on a local disk on the file server. The backup jobs would run a full (dedupe) to each...
Just wanted to update everyone:
I rebooted the NAM and I can now telnet into the system. There must have been something funky going on with the box that caused it to not accept telnet connections.
Thanks to luv2ski for his help
I've configured my Winterm correctly, but still no progress.
Here is the real problem:
I run Winterm and dial the ACD.
The session looks as if it is working (the timer that counts while you're connected starts making me think that I'm connected)
I never get a login problem where I can enter my...
No, I don't think that I do.
Where would they be located? I made a copy of all the Nortel CD's that I could find. One of the CD's has a bunch of PDF files, but they all seem to be user level password protected. Any idea what the password for those files might be?
I've tried that, but I don't even get a login prompt.
Is there anything on the OS/2 machine (I assume this would be the ACD) that I need to check to make sure that I can use Winterm to connect to it.
I was able to connect once in the past, but I can't seem to get it to work anymore.
I was wondering what are the settings for connecting to our ACD via Winterm? I know the username/password is acduser/acduser.
I have chosen TCP/IP with port 7787 and the IP of the ACD box with the telnet terminal box checked.
What am I missing here? I've tried port 23, but that doesn't...
