Can you do an NDMP restore of one Celerra datamover to an alternate datamover within the same Legato environment? Here's the scenario, I currently backup 13 datamovers using a single Legato server. If I remove 6 of my datamovers from backups, can I restore any data still on tape from those 6...
HI,
Does anyone know if there is a "pick up where left off" option on the bpbackup command in 5.1? I know you can set the checkpoint option on a policy, but how do you use it from the commandline?
Thanks....
Hdvries, I'm curious to know whether or not you see a high amount of I/O traffic at the switch when backups are not running? I'm having a similar problem with LTO drives and Networker, but with Sun and Windows servers and storage nodes.
We think our HBA (Emulex) chatter is causing enough...
Tdun, the pool idea makes sense. I needed to understand the other items that could affect the number of concurrent tape sessions.
Thanks for the info.
Herm
I'm having some problems with the number of sessions on my tape drives and I ran across this response to a thread:
"TDun (TechnicalUser) Aug 1, 2003
Unlike parallelism, target sessions is not a limit. If set to 4, this means it writes the first 4 streams to that tape. stream 5 goes to th next...
Hi,
Does anyone know how to translate the scsidev@3.0.1 type of address from the inquire command to a target and lun number? I'm running 6.1.3 on Solaris 8.
Thanks,
Herm
Carefull with this though. The "update" command in nsradmin will update the Save Set field such that the only save set for the client is /nsr/res. If you have other save sets defined for the client, it will remove those and leave you with the one save set.
The only way I've found around this...
Given the limits of what you can name things, I've found all of my attempts to be crytic at best. But I use the following:
d0 = d100, d101 = c0t0d0s0, c1t0d0s0
d1 = d11, d12 = c0t0d0s1, c1t0d0s1
d3 = d31, d32 = c0t0d0s3, c1t0d0s3
I try to match the first number of the submirrors to the mirror...
I've never seen that error before, but here's a thought. When using compression, any compression, you need temp space to actually compress the files. If the files are very large, then maybe you don't have enough temp space at the time Networker is trying to shrink the file for it to complete...
Yeah,
I figured I'd have to do it that way. I was hoping there was something with the update command to help me out because I'm not a good enough scripter to handle the group field if it comes out on multiple lines. Example:
group: First_Group, Second_Group
group: First_Group...
Hi all;
I want to use nsradmin to "add" an additional group to a long list of servers. I don't want to use the update function, becuause it will remove all of the groups a client is already a member of. And I don't want to use the edit function because then I would have to edit all 300...
Nope,
I tried moving the group from the middle to the end, with and without the ";" Too much effort in this for a simple function.
Thanks for the help...
Nope,
No Legato license for Sharepoint but is there a Legato module for it? I don't think so...
I agree this sounds like a license issue but I'm just trying to do a flat file backup. This extra mount point shouldn't be showing up.
...on the client. I'm just trying to do a flat file backup.
Since I had Save Set set to ALL the easy fix was to just specify the C, D, and SYSTEM * stuff but I was just wondering how Networker went about figuring mount points on Windows servers? I don't like specifying mount points if I don't...
Thanks Davina,
But that was one of the first things I tried and it didn't work either. I got a different error message saying that it was an unterminated field.
I gave up though, and just ran the script with only 1 group per client and I'll add the additional group from the GUI later.
Thanks...
Ok,
The script I have works, but I'm trying to create the clients as members of 2 groups and I get the following error:
create failed: 'DAILY_FRI_UNIX_OFFSUN, OFFSITE_SUN1' invalid choice for 'group', try Default
The file that the script uses for input has the group field delimited as such...
Hi,
I need to create about 400 clients on a Solaris Networker server and I've been playing with getting a script to do it, but with my limited scripting skills I've not been successful with getting a $CLIENTNAME variable read into a nsradmin -i commands script.
Does anyone have a simple...
Hey Ed,
New Issue. Turns out the numbers for mminfo -X does not match the Networker Management Console monthly report numbers. I ran mminfo -X -q 'savetime>02/01/04,savetime<03/01/04' and got a different amount of data backed up as well as a different number of save sets done. At first I...
Gretat work Ed!!!!
I was sure that there was some byte to gigabyte conversion error in the mminfo -X. Glad to see there wasn't. Now I can continue using my script with confidence.
Thanks,
Hermxl1
