Hope this is right forum. I'm running Crystal 7.5, the version that comes with Visual Studio 10. We have a new client using Windows 8 internationally. And we have an issue where it appears the A4 paper size settng is not being retained on Windows 8. We didn't have this issue in 7. Any...

    Remembering Printer

We are in the process of testing the latest version of Metaframe, so we can have Vista workstations. I'm not the Citrix engineer, so I'm not 100% certain of some of the specifics. I am an application developer. We've run into an issue on printing. We are using the default Citrix printing. In...

    Com port sharing

I'm not a citrix engineer, but I'm trying to help ours out. We published an app that has an upload function. This modems a file to a bank. We tested it out successfully by logging into citrix, getting to a cmd window and issuing "net use com1: \\client\com1:" Our test modem was a cell phone...

    DBC pathing problem

unfortunately, neither solution of an ini file or startup variable helps. The app will not start if the data has been copied from citrix to a local system. Because the paths are hardcoded such as "h:\data" in the dbc and the local system has no h:, we have to rebuild the dbc everytime we do...

    DBC pathing problem

I'm sorry, the local path is defined as: data\mytable This is fine. No matter where we copy the system to, the data folder will always reside under the main folder and the path will always be correct. As in your system the "h:\data" is what causes the problem. Obviously, if we copy the data...

    DBC pathing problem

We've encountered a little issue with paths stored in the DBC that I'm looking for some help on: If the app is run on a local system, typically the app folder will be at least one folder deep from the root (c:\myappfolder). In the DBC stored in the app folder, the path to tables in the data...

    Renaming files on local drive

I'm scripting this use an API call to "createprocess". I'm creating a batch file on the fly that renames the file using UNC. It works perfect in a local setting. But the rename happens on the local drive across Citrix. But the new name is in all lowercase. PF

    Renaming files on local drive

We have a published Foxpro app that has a function to upload a file into the system. The file will always have the same name, so it has been overwritten each time they copy a new file onto their local drive. I have a requirement now to rename the file on the local drive using today's date, so...

users getting booted back to Citrix login

We have a Visual Foxpro app running on our Citrix farm. The app stores the users perferred printer. The printer name is validated before printing. According to the docs on the command we are using to gather available printers: "Visual FoxPro obtains the names of the installed printers and...

    Citrix Printing Issue

I have a published app written in VisualFoxpro. The user is able to store printer information for their desired printer. Before actually printing there is a code fragment that verifies that the printer name stored is still a valid printer. In order to verify, the list of available printers is...

Loaded Ati software - now bootup error

I recently installed software that came with my new Ati 9600Xt video card. It includes ATI's multimedia software. Now there is an error on bootup on Ntdll.dll. I checked MS' dll database and don't even see the version of the dll i have listed. So i think ATI maybe supplied their own...

    Handles for SQL Server

If it is a local app, I think you should use and discard. You don't want to leave a handle active when not in use due to licensing issues on SQL Server. PF

    Suggestions on Client Server!

Jesse, At my last gig I was involved in a similar process. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to absolutely, 100% ensure that all files are sent/received correctly. The way they had it setup, which was seemed like a good method of providing an audit trail, was to rename these...

    Logon Timer expired

We have a process that needs to run around the clock on Citrix. The pc that starts a session and runs the process receives a "Logon Timer Expired" messagebox after about 12 hours. Two questions: 1) The messagebox states you have 2 minutes to save your files before you are booted...

    File locks 2000 server

I just found what I was looking for, for you: "The 2 technet articles that relate to this are Q272127 and Q294816" These are articles on MS Knowledgebase. PF

    File locks 2000 server

Jon, There are some hotfixes you have to apply to Win2K and Citrix for VFP apps to run correctly. But unfortunately I can not locate a link for you. I spent the last 30 minutes looking around. There is a MS Knowledgebase article that describes exactly what you need to do. PF

MS Access FIRST(), VFP = ????

Since you are talking about retrieving values from a particular record, possibly a correlated sub-query would help. something like: select code, descrip from mytable where recdate in (select max(rec_date) from mytable a where code = mytable.code) pf

MS Access FIRST(), VFP = ????

Just a guess, but by looking at the sql statement, I would assume that MAX() and MIN() are the VFP equivalents. PF
