From time to time when I send an attachment via Outlook 2000 using '98 from home on Broadband, the attachments arrive as a *dat file (or is it win.dat?) which cannot be viewed.
Any ideas?
I am running '98, (upgraded ie5 to 6) have Broadband but had the same problems with my modem as well.
Ie5 loads a page, then occasionally I click on a link and it just sits there and does nothing. The only way I can get it to move is to right click and open in new window.

This situation also manifested itself for me. The reason behind the problem appeared to be corruption/instability caused by installing software while McAfee Viruscan was running and installed.
Removing McAfee and reinstalling Netscape and then reinstalling McAfee removed the crashing.
