Try new chipset drivers & check for overheating at the cpu etc. Try running the system without any extra cards like modem sound etc. and see if it goes away.
Just try to narrow it down to a few components.
I once had someone that didnt remove the protective plastic tape from over the heatsink...
I have the modem installed in the device manager fine but the modem icon is missing in the control panel and I am getting errors atempting to make as connection, including lock up's. Windoes ME
Anyone seen this before?
For parallel ports and serial ports I use an old DOS version of norton diags and some loop back plugs in the ports.
For hard drive problems I use the same as Jakespeare and use the manufacturers drive tools, although you can usually tell when a drive is faulty.
Microsoft now have IEAK 6 and CMAK it is not included in this version. I can not find the old version of IEAK anywhere on there site to down load. Microsoft have one file called cmak.exe but this is just sample files to try out with the program.
I have searched every where and can not find the CMAK program (comunication managers admin kit), microsoft dont even seem to have it on their site any more.
Help! Does anyone have a link to another site with the download on or can someone email the file to me.
Thanks loads
Seby
