no user ID when Groupwise starts up

thanks! this inspired me to figure out a solution to my original problem. if you put this switch on the shorcut command line /@u-%username% it will insert the windows login name at the groupwise login prompt every time! our windows logins are identical to our NDS/groupwise logins.

no user ID when Groupwise starts up

I should clarify that adding /@u-? after grpwise.exe in my shortcut target only works the first time. after i log in to groupwise, then exit, then click on my shortcut again, it puts in my user ID. basically, i want to make a single, locked down, super simplified terminal services profile for...

Hello: I would like to configure GroupWise to _not_ remember the username of the last authenticated user who logged in under that Windows profile. Is is possible to pass the groupwise exe a command line switch to not load the user ID?

Hello: I've just been put on a project where there is a Citrix 1.8 server farm running on NT, but we want to upgrade to W2K running metaframe XP. We're concerned about potential problems with moving the current terminal services licensing server to another domain controller. (We're going to...

    _real_ system requirements for XP

hi -- our office will be upgrading the desktop OS from NT 4.0 to XP within a year. I'm looking at our PC inventory and we've got about 30+ machines that are pentium II 400Mz and just out of their Dell 3 year warranty. I'm not too bothered about being out of serive warranty, but I was...

restores to a novell server are corrupted??!?

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know how to check for the service pack, or the *.nlm files (at least a file search on the novell server didn't find them). Can you tell me how to verify this? We are backing up the novell files via the Netware Agent (as opposed to through the network.) I've...

restores to a novell server are corrupted??!?

Hello: currently running ArcserveIT 6.61 Build 834SP2A on NT 4.0. It backs up (and restores to) 4 different NT server just fine. But when I try to restore files back to our novell 4.11 server (backed up from that novell server) most of the files are all different sizes than the originals and...

programming pull down menu in user defined field in outlook?

I'll start by answering my own question: I found the Tools->Forms->Design This Form utility, and have been able to make my pull down menus for my user defined fields. However, I cannot figure out how to make this customization apply to all the contacts in my folder. How to I make a new form...

programming pull down menu in user defined field in outlook?

Hello -- I'm trying to develop a contacts database to suit my company in an outlook 98's contact folder. I need a user defined field to be used in views, searchable, etc. I don't want people to fill this field in as free text, I would like to control the options. It would be perfect if I...

    SANS seminar -- worth it?

Hello -- A few articles I've read recently have mentioned the SANS institute. www.sans.org. I'm interested in taking their seminar on "SANS security essentials". Has anyone taken this seminar, received GIAC certification, or even heard about this org? It's an expensive course (for...

    packet filter protocol violation alert??

Hello -- In the past few months, I've seen quite a few of these in the event log on the proxy server: Event ID: 46 Source: PacketFilterLog Description: Packet filter protocol violation alert I'm running MS proxy on NT 4.0. I'm assuming that this is a result of simple port scanning. But I'm...

GAL defaulting to right place in list

Hi: We have offices in over 100 countries, and a GAL that has a container for each country's local recipients. However, it is very inconvenient to scroll down the pulld-down GAL every time I want to see the recipient list for a particular office. Is there a way to make my GAL default to my...

    backup successful, but tape blank!?!?

well, here's how i solved it, if you're interested: i didn't. just put it in enough times that finally device managment decided the tapes weren't blank. once they didn't say they were blank, restore was happy to use them. after so much checking, it looks like my firmware L005 isn't on the...

    backup successful, but tape blank!?!?

Hello: I'm running ARCserve for netware version 6.1 with SP 1997.9. I'm using the manager for windows. I've just replaced the tape server due to age and faultiness. It's an HP C1537A running on an old HP Netserver LH Pro. Anyway, backups are all OK, reports and job queue claim that each...

administrative share of C and D drives looks suspicious

HEllo -- just recently we've noticed that all machines on our NT4 workstation network (running off of a Novell 4.11 file and print server) have their C: and D: shared. When you log into any workstation as local Administrator, view a local drive's sharing properties, you see that the shared...

too many collisions -- slow network?

xact -- thanks for the info. this past weekend, we were finally able to methodologically diagnose where the slowness and over abundance of collisions were occurring. it seems to have been a dodgy hub -- we believe it was at the bnc connector in the back which daisy chains the hubs together...

too many collisions -- slow network?

    1. Nostradamus: cheers for the quick reply! unfortunately, a fully switched network isn't in the budget. we are moving to a new floor which will be fitted out in cat5 100Mbs ethernet and getting 1 switch and some smart hubs. so if it is a cable problem, or a problem with one of our old hubs...
