Hi
I am trying to achieve off-site backups of Exchange on SBS 2003 using logmein backup. This doesn’t have the option like NTBackup does to specifically select the information store, so…
If a backup utility is used that only backs up files, which files need to be backed up?
Is it all the...
Hey Everyone
The other day I introduced an SBS 2003 R2 Server to one of my clients. Temporarily, they were working with pop3 mail for their emails so we were using pop3 connector.
At one point during the day it became apparent that emails were no longer getting through. They weren't bouncing...
Hey Everyone
There has been a fire at one of my clients' offices. Although it managed to stay contained in an area without any computers in, the entire office has been covered in soot. And obviously, the computers' and server's fans sucked the soot in and covered all the components in the...
Well the loop thing wont happen becuase if you send an email to "name@old_very_long_domain.com", the autoresponce would come from "name@short_domain.com" as that is the users' default address. And as there is no auto responce set up on the "short_domain.com" then loop wont happen.
However, I...
Hey
This client is running Windows SBS 2003 SP2.
We've managed to sort out a shorter domain name to use (say: "short_domain.com"), and Exchange is set to accept emails sent to both "short_domain.com" and "old_very_long_domain.com". Obviously, all users' default email addresses are...
Hey
Thanks for getting back..
Yeah I was aware of that problem, but that's why I thought there must be some way of setting it so that there is a limit to how many replies are sent (for example only 5 to one particular recipient per day).
There are certain technical support email addresses you...
Hey
Does SBS 2003 log anywhere when a user changes a password, or if an administrator changes someone's password?
This is just that the password has been changed, obviously not what the passwords were.
Thanks
Kev
Hey
A user wants an out-of-office style responce to all emails sent to them. Out-of-office replies only reply to a sender once, then if that sender continues to send emails, then they do not recieve out-of-office replies. This makes sence becuase if the sender also had an automated responce...
Well if you go to Server Management > Users > Pick a particular user > Properties > Profile > And remove the Profile Path, then that user will no longer have a roaming profile.
If you are finding that new users are being given a roaming profile by default, then I would asuume that you will find...
OK. Seems that "for no apparent reason" was actually false. I'd mis-calculated time...
I just needed to update the Firmware of the router, so please ignore this thread.
Thanks
You can actually disable offline files completely for all PCs using Group Policy (to stop Syncronization). If you need help with this, reply to this thread.

Hi
Emails were being sent out with no problem directly from our server until the other day when they were becoming stuck in the exchange queue (for no apparent reason).
I called our ISP to see if there had been a block put on our internet connection and they reported no blocks or blacklisting...
Hi
Some time ago I set any undeliverable mail downloaded by the pop3 connector to go to a particular mailbox (in pop3 connector manager> troubleshooting> undeliverable pop3 mail).
What I'd like to do now is for it to just generate and send back an NDR (non delivery report). Is there a way to...
Hi
I'm running Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP2
When I try to open Help and Support (or click the link under an Event Viewer description "For more information, see Help and Support Center at:") I get the following error as a dialoge box:
When I look for the 'Help and Support' service...
Hey
We need a function in outlook that prints out an email aitomatically when it is sent. However, in the case of replying to an email, only the users actual reply should be printed, even though the previous replies (the email conversation) is included in the email message.
I'm not really...
Although - I've just realised... this would just cover the shortcuts on the desktop. I don't think it would cover the background (say, if you wanted the company logo). Or would it? Anyone know?
Thanks
Yeah - when you create your new Group Policy Object, you'll find this function in:
USER CONFIGURATION > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection > Right-Click on "Desktop" and select Properties.
This same section is also good if you want to redirect everyone's my documents to say...
Hi
I've given a user "Send As" permission for a distribution group "info@domain.com".
Is there any way I can set it so that her default "From" address is the distribution list. Then she'll just have to delete what's in the from field if she wants it to come from her.
Even better than this...
Hey Everyone
I would have thought that to have it so everytime a NEW USER is created, thier profile path is "\\<servername>\<sharename>\%username%", I would just have to enter this in the 'Profile>Profile Path' Tab of the 'User Template' template. This doesn't seem to work. Is there another way...
