Custom Datetime Format with Julian Date

two options I can think of: 1) use character string, can be sorted and compared in size, but no math operation. 2) use one date variable (in julian format) and one time variable, which would still allow you to math on them. It is a bit twisted when the timestamp of the second date is earlier...

    tracking file access/modification

thanks, guys. it is correct that it is a shared account, without knowing for sure where it came from but I know it is no incident. Tracking command history and files' last modification etc are not enough. However, someone should be able to tell which PC the connection originates. I am wondering...

    tracking file access/modification

I work on a sun unix box where a group of people share an account. lately I noticed someone changed my programs and caused jobs to fail couple of times. Is there anyway to track down from which terminal the access comes from (e.g. pc ip address, term id or anything like that?) I am not an admin...

    random records

That is not the way I did it a few years ago. What I eventually want to achieve is to get, say 10 records within each group. For example, 10 random records from model A, another 10 random records from model B, etc. Isn't there a function like random or srand or something? Strange that I could...

This question must have been asked millions of times, but I still can not find an answer to it, including the FAQ here. In sending out emails from an UNIX account to non-UNIX addresses, I would like to have a different "reply to" address than the unix account in case people want to reply. Is it...
