Hi all Does anyone have any experience in keeping legacy systems running after Sun have de-supported them. We have a 6320 disk array and are thinking about keeping it running without Sun/Oracle help. Seems a shame to bin it. Is there any experience of this out there and do you have some tips...

    Cant see tape drive

Sorry for not responding mrjazz, after further investigation I am now waiting for a scsi hba card for the server so that I can hook up the drives. I had thought that all (drives and changer) would be seen through the fibre changer card. Clueless I know. Thanks for your help.

    Backup speeds

Hi, I currently have 2 tape drives directly attached to my backup server by scsi cable. Is it worth changing to fibre connection? Will my backups go seriously quicker or is it restricted by how quickly the drive itself can write to tape? Any experiences of this out there? Thanks.

    Cant see tape drive

mrjazz - thanks. I may be completely stupid but do the tape drives have a fibre connection of their own ?(I have only one coming from the changer...) Otherwise I have done the cfgadm bit though I see there are 2 on c2 and c4 unconfigured.

Hello all. I have attached a StorageTek SL500 tape unit to a solaris 10 server(M4000). I've tried the usual "reboot -- -r" and devfsadm etc commands however I still cant see the (LTO3) tape drives from the server. The /dev/rmt directory is empty as well. What do I need to do to see the tape...
