    FTP Permission

I am moving from a Unix FTP server to a Windows 2012 FTP server and having a permissions issue. The regular ftp user should have access to the entire root of the drive. But I need special user to be isolated to his own directory and not see or change to any other directory. I seem to be able...

    Processes are not dying off

I've moved a physical server over to VMWare ESXi 5.1 using SCO 6.0 with MP4. For whatever reason, people are occasionally getting kicked out or are closing out their telnet session and it is leaving their processes running. When this happens, the sar %idle drops from 98-95% down to 25-20%...

    SCO 6V

Has anyone used SCO 6V? Is there really any advantage to using 6V versus 6.0 when running VMware? I have looked around but just don't see anything that would make me want to purchase a license for that when 6.0 runs good in VMware. Your thoughts are appreciated. Carl.

    FTP connection problem

Moto, the system is at 99% and 100% idle consistently and telnet has no issue at all. The remote location is running all fine and dandy through telnet as well. ifconfig: net1: flags=4043<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.100.54 netmask ffffff00 broadcast...

    FTP connection problem

Reloaded in the sense that the hard drive went kaput and this is a new hard drive reloaded with OS and data. Patches as in? It has 5.0.6 Enterprise, rs506a and the ALN-325 NIC driver. I have not seen any patch on SCO related to this problem other than some for 5.0.5.

    PING Frequency

The idea came about as a part of a "triple check" for updating. By reading all of the comments, I would definately have to agree that instituting a ping as part of that check would be both unnecessary and highly indicative of a DOS attack by most reliable firewalls. Thanks for your...

    PING Frequency

The updates happen with each transaction. The application is used for selling items. Each time an item is added to an invoice the selling on hand changes, as well as, the customer's available balance. So, based on a "regular" day the updates might happen as frequently as up to 10 times per...

    PING Frequency

The connection to the database is updated whith changes rather frequently. Based on that the program will either update the local database if the connection is down and then update the remote database once a connection is reestablished. Based on that principle what would be an "acceptable"...

    PING Frequency

One of our developers is writing a package that accesses either a local database or remote database based on internet connectivity. The way it is determined is by a single ping which is initiated every half-second. So, I have two questions: 1. is a single ping an effective way to determine...
