thanks for all the help and advice.
I'm gonna check out cdogg's temp fix just to see if it works, but I've come to realize that I better just reinstall and forget about taking ownership of everything this time.
thanks again for your input and I hope everyone has a good NEW YEAR

Hi everyone,
I’m having a problem with my Windows 7 Pro. 64bit.
I reinstalled Win 7 and added a bunch of my programs and my files etc.
Everything was working fine and my wireless internet access was fine also.
**BUT** seems like there’s always a **BUT** in these forums.

I'm wondering about the fact that the password might be stored on both the HDD and a chip on the motherboard. Even if I was to find a way to erase the HDD, password included, would the password stored on this chip still stop me from accessing the HDD??? tough question!!!

The first thing I did was clear the CMOS and that didn't work. I read online that it's stored on the HDD. The HDD does have the password because I stuck the HDD in my desktop with my other drives and a bubble came up in Windows telling me it's a locked drive. I had also read online that the...
I know the person well, he's a retired minister and doesn't go around stealing laptops.
I have read online that this has happened to others and when their laptops were still under warrantee, Toshiba replaced the HDD free. This one is no longer under warrantee and Toshiba said it would cost $250...
Because he/I can't get past this screen to load windows. Other wise the laptop was working ok.

Hi everyone,
My friend gave me his Toshiba Satellite L455-S5046 laptop to fix and I don't know how to do this one.
When it starts it asks for a HDD1/SSD1 password which he doesn't remember ever putting one in.
Clearing the CMOS doesn't fix it. It seems that Toshiba has this password function in...
i read quite awhile ago that the OCZ agility drives weren't to good, but that the Vertex drives were much better.
My drive, the Vertex 3 Max IOPS(6GB SATA)with the newer 25nm Micron Flash chips, is realitivly new.
It features the latest Sandforce controller design with SF-2200 SSD processor...
Hi again everyone,
Well i put the new SSD (OCZ Vertex 3 MAX IOPS)in and loaded Win 7 64bit and Office and a few other things.
Tried the Windows Experience Index again and it's alot better.
The processor, memory, and graphics stayed the same, but the Primary hard disk went from 5.9 to 7.9 which...
I just bought a 120 GB SSD and am gonna install it later today.

Thanks for all the imput, it was very helpful.
I will use the Acronis software to back-up to my WD external drive, and i think i'll spend the few dollars for another internal drive to back-up to also. And keep it in a drawer, seperate from the computer. The money spent on the extra drive will be...
Thanks edfair,
My computer is set up just the way i want it now.
How would you suggest making a back-up so that if my HDD were to crash, i could use the back-up to get back to this point? How would i go about putting the back-up onto a new Drive?
Hi everyone,
I wanted to do a nice clean re-install, so I just finished reloading Windows 7 and all my drivers and programs. It sure is time consuming. I would like to do a back-up or two so if i ever need to do it again, it won't take so long.
What would be the best ways to do it? I currently...
Hi,
I'm doing a complete reinstall of win 7 64bit on this ASUS Rampage 3 Extreme and i see that the Asus CD installs Realtek sound drivers and the CD from my MSI 470 video card also installs nVidia sound drivers. They both show up in Device manager under Sound: 4 lines say nVida and 1 line says...
Sorry, it was late-nite when i posted.
They are pin jacks and not RCA jacks.
There are six all together:
1=line in
2=mic in
3=front spkr out
4=rear spkr out
5=center/subwoofer
6=side speaker out
Plus the S/PDIF output
Which audio ports on this motherboard ASUS Rampage 3 Extreme are better, the RCA or the S/PDIF ?? I'm thinking the S/PDIF is better but i'm not positive. I have both imput connectors on my Home Theater System so which should i use ???
thanks for any advice you can give me.
Merry Christmas and a...
