Be sure to verify that the directory has the Administrative share set up. such as "C$". If it still won't install, you should be able to install it manually.

If this is still a problem, remember, the "Client Agent" for SQL is special. Also, by default, Veritas looks for the 'Administrative Share' of the target server, AND, the username used to perform the backup must have the necessary rights to the directory to perform the backup.

I had this same problem with WinRoute. The answer was simple. I had to make a DNS entry for both the Mail.*.* & SMTP.*.*. Then I directed my workstations to the DNS that WinRoute provides natively. Worked great.
