Next time it happens try plugging in a regular PS2 keyboard and see if you get any response from it. If not, I would start with making sure that the fan on the CPU is running.
Well, I have no drives connected at all. I have removed the motherboard from the machine and have it on a non-conductive surface. I am also getting no beeps what-so-ever. :)
I am thinking that the cpu is doa.
