Hello
I'll be performing maintenance on a few Solaris servers.
As a Solaris systems comes up from a boot, this can take some time, EMC SAN disks are attached and this probe can take a bit of time.
I'm sure there's a config (flat ascii file) file somewhere that allows you to turn off the EMC...
hello mq folk
I need some advice...regarding MQ.
How much does MQ hammer a system, is it network/memory intensive?
I have a DB server which also hosts MQ, around 30,000 MQ events per day.
How can I determine if the same server can deal with 100,000 events per day?
what do I need to consider...
stumpr
ok , I get that concern.
i dont have much choice, no budget here for an enterprise soloution like VCS with EMC BCV.
thanks for that, if you have any other ideas which does not involve 3rd party vendors, please let us know.

agreed, with regards to your example
and that ypserv handles NIS requests
how about when you dont tell NIS which maps to use
e.g ssh host1
or
NIS will look at hosts and netgroups
but how does NIS know this ?
nsswitch.conf is NOT what I'm looking for
that's the order in which place to resolve name services
How does NIS know which NIS maps to use?
there can be say more than 15 NIS maps, how does NIS know which map to consult in order to get the answer
thanks
Hello
I have used NIS in a few environments and set-up nis clients.
How does NIS determine which map to use, when a client requests?
maybe a system call??
how does NIS know whether to user hosts map or the ethers map ?
thanks
gents
With regards to servers like the t2000, with a max. spec of 8 cpus, 4 threads per core...32 threads in total
Does the 32 threads just mean that 32 executions can take place at the same time ?
thanks in advance
