    Can't find DHCP server

A router reboot fixed it. I'm rapidly going off netgear routers.

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

Quick update. I will look into firmware updates - sometime - really I will! The way the errors were occurring makes me think that it might be software related. So I decided to uninstall anything I didn't use. The first thing to go was seagates trial muveee software that came with a backup USB...

    Can't find DHCP server

I'm just throwing this on here for opinions. This morning - my SO's PC would not connect to our network. To summarise 1. Cold boot failed 2. Repair of network connection failed 3. Fixing the IP address - worked! Now - I would have said - OK - reboot the router. HOWEVER I tested the physical...

Windows 7 build 7601 this copy of windows is not genuine. Tried what i know but nothing works.

There is good chance you have just been given a serial # that Microsoft haven't cottoned on to yet I'm afraid.

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

Installed this morning - thanks - Verify in progress as I type. I also stumbled on Intels auto hardware scan - infinst_autol.exe & downloaded it. Do you think I should give it a try? - Just back from looking after MOL - Now my SO goes in for a minor op tomorrow - so I may (between visits) get...

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

Yep - I thinks that's a good plan. It's finding the time. I just love intermittent faults, don't you? As you can imagine I am keeping a close eye on the event log and am currently wondering what happened at 14:48 today to generate 5 Event ID 55's? I ran another verify but that reported nothing...

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

About what I figured goombawaho - Oh well, I guess I'll just have to commandeer the "wife's" PC for a bit - I see a D I V O R C E looming - lol No errors today & I'm very pushed for time - M.O.L. is unwell and I have a ton of stuff to do - inc a mountain of paperwork which requires this PC. So...

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

I spoke to soon :( I have some thoughts on software issues before I totally blame hardware - as the last bout of ntfs errors were coincidental with an image backup using Shadow Protect. If those ideas fail to fix things though I would appreciate your advise on how to test the disks. I am assume...

Word 2007 does not recognise change to printdate field data as requiring a save

All of a sudden, or so it seems, Word2007 docs with a printdate field are NOT being saved after printing. i.e. - open doc, print it - field updates (all good so far) then click save and close the doc. It is not saved! What have I done? What do I need to do to fix this?

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

3 drives at 1TB each - Life's too short! LOL (I have a RAID 5). Seems to me that I already spend an inordinate amount of time keeping windows and my other software updated. Often requiring a reboot. I'm trying to get some work done after all! I do daily file backups and a weekly image backup so...

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

I already did that - I never noticed that option before - Duh! But thanks for mentioning it. I do run chkdsk from time to time. Further to my original post I have just noticed that opening a cmd window with admin rights and running "chkdsk c:" [i.e. in read only mode] GENERATES an event ID 55...

Event ID 55 with Intel RAID

I started getting lots of these recently and running a chkdsk with the f flag and rebooting finding no issues. But still kept getting up to 20 55 events a day "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume Boot." To cut a long story...

    Has something effected chkdsk?

Has anyone noticed that recently (I assume in the last few months) that running chkdsk on the C drive never gives a clean result? At least not for me on 2 machines. If you use the /F parameter and reboot then no errors are found! A typical live result is like this. Thoughts? anyone?

Event log - Kernal Event Tracing log issue - should I worry?

Many thanks - done - wasn't easy to find the relevant log though - Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing/Admin At least I hope that's the one.

    Excel time in milliseconds

WOW - thanks guys - much for me to learn I see. I'll report back ASAP. Meanwhile - I need to get my ISP to stop blocking the notification emails from here as spam - grrrr.

    Excel time in milliseconds

Clutching at straws here but I would like see how long bits of a macro are taking and the now() function seems only to get the time to the nearest second even though I am using the following format mm:ss.000 I have also tried mm:ss.ms but I don't get the correct results displayed or the time...

Event log - Kernal Event Tracing log issue - should I worry?

Thanks for that. However I can't see how you increase the log file size or even where you go to change it. I'm feeling a right dumbo now but I think I need step by step instructions.

Event log - Kernal Event Tracing log issue - should I worry?

I seem to be getting quite a few of these warnings in my Event log lately. Should I be bothered? If so, what do I need to do to prevent the problem?

Redisplay last notification from notification area.

Thanks guys - as I feared - can't be done. It's not just Skype - although its annoying if you miss it - as you don't know who just came online! It's the odd ones that seem to catch my eye on their way out - rather than on their way in. Windows own notifications can of course be changed in the...
