    Yes I was using veritas. I was trying to upgrade the firmware on the DLT40 when i wrote that post. When i use veritas to write to the tape i get an i/o error after 320,008 bytes written. Just need to fix this prob and get backing up. Thanks Dave

    veritas runs for 320,008 bytes then fails

    I have no other jobs running , just set this DLT40 up on this machine. I have noticed that if i backup to file i have no problems. It happens every time at the exact same spot (320,008 bytes) I have tried other tapes and the same thing happens in the exact same spot.
