Hi, I have one of the new ASA 5510 units from Cisco which I'm trying to configure for remote access. I have used the configuration wizard and VPN Wizard which has enabled me to connect to the VPN across the internet, but i cannot see anything on the inboard LAN.
I cannot connect to anything...
Matt, your recommendations were spot on and i have now managed to get the system fully operational and using SSL as well. Many thanks for all your help.

I'm slightly confused here so please bear with me. Firstly, i'd like to get the front end owa server to work and then look at the whole issue surrounding the use of SSL.
What i have is an Exchange 10.0.10.18 an AD server 10.0.10.11 - a front end OWA server 20.0.20.10 that sits on the PIX DMZ...
Hi Matt,
Thanks for your comments which i have used to make the necessary changes to my PIX. I still cannot get the complete web access to work though. It would seem that i can now reach the Bridge Head server (front end Exhange) as it comes up with the request for username and password...
Hi All,
i'm back with another issue with my PIX. Having had a lot of help in the past, i thought i'd have a crack at setting up a Bridgeend server on my PIX 515E which has and installed DMX interface. However, having studied many of the articles for the web and especially d=from Cisco, it...
All,
The problem has now been resolved and the config was not the issue. The problem truned out to be that the 2003 AD server had the DNS configured before the PIX was put in place, but although the default gateway IP address was added to the DNS settings, it would seem that as it was not...
Guys, thank you for the wealth of knowledge and I also apologise for not correctly putting over the config of the network. There is a server (AD Controller) that serves as DHCP and DNS for the network on the inboard (LAN), but this currently does not seem to be resolving DNS to the outside...
Hi everyone,
Some news to cloud the issue further. It would seem that the issue is related to DNS resolution. When I give a client the DNS server address of our ISP the client can get out onto the internet without problems. As far as I can see from looking at the config, DNS resolution...
Hi all, many thanks for your replies. The PIX in this case is the default gateway. I can connect to and log on to the VPN side of the PIX and see the internal network and ping all the internal devices, but cannot get access to the internet from internally connected clients. The system has a...
Hi All,
I'm back with another problem with the PIX. I have moved my 506e from our live environment to our development network. Seemed simple enough, but having made the necessary changes (IP Ways) to the config, it's given up. I can ping the lan side from any network PC, and from the pix i...
Thanks for all your help. The config you suggested did work, but a typo in the config of another device (a router acting as default gateway) was sending the return packets to another gateway (a remote office) .
Many thanks for your help as the original config obviously wouldn't have worked...
Thanks for your reply. I have removed and added the lines you recommended, but still can't get mail through. i have posted the the latest config below. Can you see anything i have missed.
It all looks to be there, but for some reason it just doesn't work.
Thanks for your help
Rick

Hi Brent,
Thanks for your reply and sorry if the post looked vague. I did a rebuild over the weekend and this is the new config that I have loaded currently that has your kind addition, however, it still doesn't work.
The reference to the IP address AA.AA.AA.AA is the default gateway of my...
Hi All,
I have a real problem. In reconfiguring our network we have lost SMTP mail through our PIX. The mail server sends out mail ok through the proxy sweeper and out of the Pix, but incoming mail seems to be lost and does not appear to be getting through the pix the the rpoxy sweeper on the...
Hi, I'm trying to get clients on my LAN to route through a PIX 515E firwall to reach the server farm at another office. Does anyone know the configuration I should use on the PIX to let this happen? The Citrix farm is published via web interface across a http/ica connection. Thanks
CNut
Hi, thanks for your reply. No the new router has a diffrent IP address. It has 2 ethernet interfaces the 2nd of which is connected to a PIX which in turn is connected to the remote site across a WAN connetion. The 2821 has been configured to route specific traffic to that PIX firewall which is...
I have a 2821 set up on my network to replace an old 3Com router. I have a few satic routes set up that are needed to route through to another site.
However, when i try to access the internet from the network, i have lost access. I know this is down to the new default gateway, but don't know...
Hi Brent,
Many thanks for your help. The Firewall now works very well and we have remote access to the test environment here. I have learn't a lot on they way, so many thanks.
Rick
Hi Brent,
Thanks again for your help. I'm slowly moving forward here. I can now connect to the network via a remote client. It doesn't ask me for a username and password at the client, the Firewall seems to accept the group id and password as the only form of authentication. Once connected...
