    Thanks. However, what I have is a lovely brunette against a black background. Your suggestion works for the background but it gives her (premature) grey hair also. I'm trying to separate her from the black background, or vice versa, or change the background color.

    I can't make the Color Replacement Tool replace a black background (in a color photograph) with white or grey. Colors such as yellow, red, and blue seem to replace the black but not 100% - grey and white don't appear to replace any of the black. I have tried the various options.
