The best thing you can do is to buy for exapmle a SCSI plextor RW and then put this one in a external SCSI case then connect it to the octane. This will work perfectly.

Hey,
If your network is connected via hubs or switches you could check out the speed offwich they are connected. If it is autosensing there could be a problem. Try to set a standard speed on all devices. e.a. switch port 100mb/sec, SGI 100mb/sec and so on.
