To eliminate that possibility, I copied the catalog from the network onto my c: drive, then checked the box "Make this a distributed catalog". Therefore, no other User could have been using the catalog.
The answer which I found this morning is a statement in the file Impromptu.ini:

The /Tables... and /Joins... selections in the Catalog/ menu are grayed out. I'm using Impropmtu Administrator Version 7.1, signing on as Creator with the proper password. The /Folders... selection is available, but I need to access the tables. What am I missing?

Talked to IBM this morning, and found they have seen this problem with SQL several times in the past few months. The solution is to delete your SQL Package on the iSeries, and recreate it, which will generate the proper updated ODBC driver for SQL.
Hope this helps anyone experiencing this...
We upgraded our AS400 to the iSeries i5 3 weeks ago. I needed to add a table to an existing catalog, and encountered the following when I selected Add:
[IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver][DB2 UDB] SQL0901 - SQL System Error.
After the upgrade, all PTFs were applied and our IBM service levels...
After creating a new report containing a rather complex description, I unsuccessfully tried to save the filter definition in the catalog for future use. It appears to me that I would have to build the condition from scratch (using Catalog/Folders/New Condition) to store it in the Catalog folders...
Ahh, that's what I was after. Already tired of the cut and paste method, although it works. But the report & sub-report idea bears a look-see. Yes, my 2 reports are same data, different view, lending themselves perfectly to this method. Many thanks.
I have 2 related Impromptu reports which I want to save as 2 different worksheets in the same Excel workbook; i.e., just one file with sheets 1 and 2. Can it be done?
