Problem solved..
I managed to add users permissions and even though this didn't allow me to delete the key, it did allow updates to work as normal.
I'm still not sure why this cured the problem but unless it all goes wrong, I'm happy..

I don't think so. This error apparently means that there is an access error somewhere along the line when I try to install the updates.
However, I haven't worked out where yet..

I can't update an installation of XP Home Sp2 from the Microsoft site.
The downloads complete and the installation routine progresses but then it reports that the installation has failed.

I've just spoken to the old hosting company, which is also my ISP and they have told me they haven't deleted the old dns record which is causing the problem...

If I use tracert for the site, I end up at my old hosting company. Does this mean that this company is still hosting the website along with the new host, or is it just my dsn that is returning the erroneous route?

I am trying to use the remote connectivity in SBS 2003 but can't get the VPN to function from a remote pc. However, I have no problem when I use a computer connected via an access point using the same accounts.
I don't know where to start looking but the error on the client computer is error...
But if I add back the email account in Outlook on the client pc, won't that mean that I don't need to have the same email address in Exchange Server as a pop3 email?

We are using Small Business Server 2003 and I have setup Exchange Server so it checks for all pop3 mail and forwards it to the relevant user. I have removed the email settings from Outlook for these email addresses so as not to duplicate the work on the client pc's and all works fine.
