Have just finished installing Server 2003 SP1 onto a Dell Poweredge 2800. I used the Dell Installation bootable CD to prepare the install. I'm now wishing to carry out the Windows Update, but the server will not access the page. Further investigation has shown that IE will not load ANY HTTP...

    Policy not applying

It's my understading of the 2 halves of the GPOs that.. If you apply a "User Configuration" to an OU containing Computers then the policy should apply to any user logging onto a computer in that OU. Likewise apply a "Computer configuration" to an OU containing Users and when that user logs...

    Screen transposed.

Is the monitor a CRT or a TFT? This is important as TFTs can use "pivot" software, whereby you can rotate the screeen 90 degrees. If its a TFT it could be something to do with this.

    Very weird disk parttion error

Thanks for the post, I was clearly a bit vague as I'm aware of the conditions you describe but they cannot have occurred in this scenario. To be more exact the server has 5 36Gb SCSI HDDs in a RAID 5 array giving a total of 140 (ish) Gb. The "drive" is split into one 40gb system & boot...

    Very weird disk parttion error

I have a 2k server that has the weirdest problem. According to the user it blue-screened, on reboot it reported ntldr is missing. On using ERD Commander to boot the dead system, the 2 disk partitions on its RAID 5 array have swapped positions. It reports the Primary NTFS partition as being at...
