Hi All,
I've got a SBS2003R2 server with 5 local clients. Each client is producing these errors:
Userenv 1030
Windows cannot query for the list of GPO.
Userenv 1054
Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network.
There is also, on one machine:
15 AutoEnrollment...
Trying to connect from the server by Start > Run > \\computername or \\ipaddress.
I can ping them OK.
They all have windows firewalls managed by group policy, as well as a centrally managed Sophos firewall.
I just wondered if there was some obvious permission or share settings, or file...
I was never aware of those! Thanks - they're a good short term fix.
In the long run, I'd love to get to the bottom of why I can't connect to remote VPN shares. I don't see any reason why I shouldn't be able to.
The client machines are connected via a and are connected to the domain.
I wish to access the client share from the domain side.
Access is the same via name or IP.
Offline folders are already in use, but do not address the issue (which is remotely managing scheduled tasks on the workstations)
There's nothing at all in the event logs, except the VSS scheduled for 0700. I've moved that now to earlier in the AM so I'll know if that was it - I'll not get the Server Performnce Report in the morning.
It's a HP ML150G3 - standard spec, but 2GB RAM - w/ 3 x 80GB drives in RAID5 for data...

1. It was a euphemism. I gently tapped the space bar. Don't panic.
2. But not all companies have got the cash. It's not perfect, but it's a stepping stone between POP3 email and paper diaries and a full-on multiple server setup.
3. All things I've done / thought. I don't throw threads up...
I've connected most of the users to the SBS 2003 R2 server, and most things work OK, but I can't connect to shares on clients connected over the VPN.
The local clients were connected using the "iexplore http://server/connectcomputer" command, but the remote ones only through the Network ID and...
Right. Well, it happened again this morning so I drove up to sort it out.
It happened today (15-06-07) and last on the (11-06-07). Between those dates it ran, pretty much, like a model server.
Nothing changed in the environment - I've been adding clients steadily over the last 2 months...
Solved my own problem!
You can change the permissions of individual lists, libraries etc via
Home > Site Settings > Modify Site Content > [list} > Change permissions for this list
I'm running WSS via SBS2003R2 and have locked most of the users out of adding announcements as they were using it for, shall we say, non-work related posts.
However, I'd still like them to be able to create and edit items in the helpdesk as that makes my life easier.
Is there some way to...
I've just won a battle with a SBS2003R2 server. Some time between 0600 (it emailed me the Server Performance Report) and 0845 (when the first user [didn't] log on) it froze.
When I asked an employee to log onto the server, it was on, but didn't respond to any kb / mouse input and the monitor...
