No Need to catalog. Catalog is when you need to restore the data and you are not able see it under restore selections. AT that time, you need to catalog the tape, so that backup exec can read the contents of the tape.
Follow the steps below :
1. Import - To import the tape in the library.
2. Inventory - So that backup exec recognizes the tape.
3. Label - labe the tape if you don't want to keep the default media label.
4. Ready to Use.
