Thanks for the answer.
Here is a bit more info. We run a library 3584 with 7 LTO2 drives. The monthly backup of the file server is required to be kept 7 years. It contains about 3 millions files or so...
As of right now, a backupset of this server takes about 2 whole days to complete. It is...
Hi guys.
How do you deal with monthly backups of a Windows File Server? Which contains tons of files...Do you generate a backupset? Create an archive? What is the best procedure?
Thanks.
HI.
I need to update the values of the Dynamic Tracking on our FC cards. I read that this can be done live but it seems that the child of the FC card have to be in a defined state.
In one doc, i read that i could do a rmdev -l fscsi0 -R to get the child devices defined. Then i could run my...
Thanks for the reply.
I show 9 of them when issuing the command, but i have about 20 of them at my offsite location. Something must have happened and they are not being brought back...
I'll see if i can find out why. Maybe 9 is a bit much too...I may get that # number down.
Thanks.
HI.
I was going through my inventory of tapes and found TONS of them used at 0% that are at my Offsite site. As far as i could tell, there is only the Database backup of the TSM server on each tapes.
We run the command "backup db devclass=LTO2_CLASS type=full volume=600816 wait=yes" through a...
Hi.
We've been running with the same FC configuration for ever...(since we did not know the option existed until today) with the option for dyntrk=no and fc_err_recov=delayed_fail.
Last weekend, we tried to migrate some DS8300 ports from one switch to another and our AIX servers paths would...
Thank you for the response. I will give the query a try.
So if i understand this correctly, if i were to find a nice, long 'quiet' time period, i could try running a reclaim at 60%, which would free up some tapes and allow me to recuperate some Scratch tapes?
It seems like we are eating up...
Hi Guys.
We run a Reclamation once a week, on Sundays. For the past couple of weeks, it has been taking longer and longer. It now takes about 2 full days to complete. We set the reclaiming at 80% for our sequential storage pools.
What are the best practices that you guys run as far as...
Thank you MBourne2006.
I got it to work, but displaying the files within the subdirectories. I used this :
dsmc query backup -inactive -subdir=yes "/usr/local/" > output.txt
At least, i got the listing dumped to a flat file where i could search for the possible files.
Thanks.
Stephan
Hello.
I was looking for a way to query the database for a specific file within a specific node. We have a user that needs a file restored, but does not remember the location of the file within the filesystems (an AIX box). A 'find' of the file in question directly on the AIX box does not...
Thank you guys.

No problems...
Hello.
