i found this solution here http://www.velocityreviews.com/forums/t56115-cisco-vpn-client-46-installation-problems.html but i haven't tested it yet. it seems the guy has done what i did but also removed some files. removing the *.inf files seems a bit drastic but we'll see.

I have the same problem. after the reboot the installation fails at the same point. I've manually deleted anything called cisco or DNE from the registry but with no luck. anyone have any ideas?
