    Jimbo, I thought because it was a MP3 file I wouldn't need to format the external drive. I guessing you're right. I'll see if I can find something on Maxtors web site. Thanks for your reply.

    I've taken my Maxtor external hard drive from my PC and have attached it to a friends Mac. We are trying to copy some MP3 from his system to the Maxtor hard drive, but when we drag the file to the Maxtor icon on the Mac desk top it won't copy the file. We get a circle with a line thru it...
